September 13th, 2007  Engagement Photos 101

Before delving in, hunt around the internet for engagement portraits. Find a whole bunch you like and then study them. That’ll help you pick from the following aspects of photos and give you a better understanding of what you like!
Style
Urban, rustic, edgy, classic, saturated, vintage, green. Those are words I’ve used to define various styles […]

September 12th, 2007  Jenn & Ben - Engagement 1

Jenn and Ben are some of my favorite people. There are lots more photos to come, but in the meantime, an exercise in storyboard creation:

They were cracking me up! We went to a park in New Jersey and had a blast. They’re getting married next April, and I’ll be the photographer. It should be a […]

August 22nd, 2007  Kris & Diana

Kris and Diana contacted me earlier this year to have an engagement session, but timing didn’t work out until two weekends ago! I could tell immediately that this couple had style and a definitive artistic quality… post-processing was so much fun on these!

On this last one I felt like it should have a thick black […]

August 16th, 2007  Lena & Scott - Engagement

Lena and Scott are a really beautiful couple. Lighthearted, very easy to work with. It was a pleasure shooting them in Old Town Alexandria (my favorite place for portraits!). Watching Scott make Lena laugh was truly adorable!

I love this one set of brick stairs (all the couples I’ve worked with know this!) and Lena and […]

August 6th, 2007  Marian & Kofi - Engagement

Marian and Kofi are getting married in Nigeria and asked me to do their engagement portrait session in a garden in Northern Virginia. This was my first time shooting in Green Spring Gardens in Alexandria, but it was a treat! Lots of nice woody areas and a beautiful gazebo.

July 20th, 2007  Kristen & Jeff

Krissy and Jeff were a treat to work with! They’re getting married in upstate New York (which is also where they’re both from) and I was fortunate to have the opportunity to photograph them in Old Town Alexandria (you know, one of my favorite places)! They actually scouted out the location before we met and […]

July 11th, 2007  Tiffany and Chad

Few things are more fun than a couple with GREAT photograph ideas. Tiffany and Chad have an inside joke about a piggyback ride and wanted to memorialize it during their engagement portrait session. They’re from New Jersey (my home state) and are getting married in Maryland, so it’s been nice to know another couple with […]

July 10th, 2007  Getting comfortable in front of the camera

Some people love having their picture taken. They look amazing in every shot, they work the camera, they know what their best angles are. And we’re all jealous of them. So here are some tips for getting comfortable in front of the camera.

Know your photographer. I know, I know, often this can be hard. But […]

July 2nd, 2007  Jill & Shawn

Another great weekend of photos. On Saturday I photographed a commitment ceremony (photos to come), and on Sunday I photographed a great couple for their engagement portraits. They’ll be getting married later this year and wanted some rustic photos for their engagement. We hit the streets of Old Town Alexandria (one of my favorite locations!) […]
