February 1st, 2008 Posts to help you pick a photographer
We’ve written a number of posts on ideas and planning tips to help you pick a photographer and a price setup (whether it be customized or with a package). They’re sort of scattered and may be hard to find, so I wanted to list them all so they’re easy to read!
Talking with different photographers:
- Questions to ask your photographer
- Questions to ask your photographer’s referrals
- Female vs. Male Photographers
- Speed vs. Quality
- Shotlists and must-take lists
Picking a package:
- A la carte vs. Packages
- How to make the most of your photo package
- Digital vs. Print Proofs
- Printing yourself vs. printing through your photographer
Let us know if there’s anything here that we’re missing. We’re always trying to write new things to help couples plan their wedding and, of course, pick their photographer. If there’s a question that we haven’t answered, let us know!
Update: Today I came across this article on why photographers cost so much. It may be a good read for those of you who are wrestling with pricing when choosing your photographer. I’d like to also mention that other “behind the scenes” stuff you don’t see are the hours put into education, paying loads of taxes and insurance, and equipment costs beyond what you see on the day-of. I love how in the article they talk about how the number of hours we spend at your wedding is not even close to the number of hours we spend with your photos.
