December 10th, 2007 CD Packaging
We haven’t posted any packaging examples recently, but we’ve been doing a whole lot! And you know what that means… lots of excuses to go to the Paper Source! :)
Here’s one that we did for a client who had a lot of magenta and purple tones in her flowers. I bought handmade paper that had leaf imprints on it for a very natural look, and layered this within a simple white A7 box:
I’ve also been experimenting a lot with ribbon inside the box, especially since I think it helps keep the CD more in place during shipping. I use Zips, a very thin strip of adhesive, to adhere the ribbon to the bottom of the box. Lisa and Jason had a lot of subtle greens in their wedding, so I used a sage green box and darker green bow to contrast with the greenery on their CD image:
I’ve also snagged my parents’ old typewriter! It creates a really great look when I use it on packaging - you really can’t beat its authenticity.
Janice and Christopher had red everything at their wedding! Red bridesmaid dresses, red bouquets, red napkins, and red on their cake! It was clear what their disk packaging needed to incorporate:
By running the Zips all the way across the inside of the box, I’m able to create a nice effect. It also doesn’t pull up on the CD at all since it’s anchored to the bottom.
All ASI clients receive a disk package specially created for them. While I used a similar box style for all of the above, we’ve used all sorts of box styles - from funky recycled paper boxes using elastic enclosures to wire mesh CD cases. It all depends on the client’s style.
