November 27th, 2007  Retouching - Brooke & Michael

This week I’d like to focus on all of the retouching work we do at A Softer Image. The options are really endless for what we can create with photos, and I think it’s always good to educate clients about the different possibilities we have when working with their photos.

Brooke and Michael had a beautiful wedding at Ft. Myer. The day was perfect for outdoor formal photos - however, there was unfortunately some gates and guards in the background of a bunch of the photos. Brooke asked me to retouch this image:

As you can see, there’s just “stuff” in the background that needs to be removed. This is relatively easy to do, as it’s not a lot of area to retouch, and I had other pictures to sample different backgrounds from.

A few months later, Brooke wondered if I can use the same retouched picture, but also narrow it down to just a few people. This is also something that’s very doable if you have a good base photo and consistent lighting. The result:

Stay tuned for more samples of retouching this week, and a whole week of how-to’s next week!
