October 10th, 2007 CD Packaging - Jamie
I did some simple CD packaging for Jamie. At the shoot, she wore a great pink-striped dress, so I thought I’d emulate that with her DVD box!
I always start with a custom-printed CD of the images, all at high-resolution:

This paper was a little tricky, in that the lines weren’t straight. So no matter how I cut the paper to fit in the DVD slip, it always will look a little off - still, I like that it’s not perfect.

This ribbon was found at the Paper Source. A yard generally works great for DVD boxes. The pinks compliment the paper and the brown was spot on:

Voila! A simple product that will sit great on any shelf.

CDs are so small they’re easy to loose, but since they’re so important to many of my clients who make their own prints, it’s very important for me to package them in a way that will hold up. The DVD boxes are compatible with many shelving units and aren’t easy to loose, and they are so many great ways to customize them. While Jamie’s was straightforward and very pretty, I sometimes spice things up by stamping the cover with my logo, adhering an envelope to the inside to include a note or business card, or slide 4×6 or 5×7 prints where the inside booklet is typically held. All to coordinate with the client’s personality or color scheme, of course!
